Dr. Hnatov was born in Kiev, Ukraine where he was raised in a family of doctors including general practitioners, microbiologists, orthopedic surgeons and pediatricians. Throughout his elementary and high school years he was ranked at the top of his class academically. Dr. Hnatov is fluent in English, Russian and Ukrainian.

Dr. Hnatov received his Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada were he graduated with great distinction. He completed his five-year residency at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada during which time he received extensive training in all aspects of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Hnatov is a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Radiation Oncology.  He is a member of the American College of Radiology and the American Society of Radiation Oncology.
