What is Urodynamic testing?

Urodynamic testing, also referred to as urodynamic studies (UDS), looks at how well the bladder, sphincters, and urethra are storing and releasing urine.

Why would I need a Urodynamics test?

Your doctor may want you have this test if you have problems with:

-Urine Leaks/controlling your urine

-Completely emptying your bladder

-Weak urine flow

-Intermittent urine flow (stops & starts)

-Painful/ongoing urinary tract infections

What can I expect during testing?

A tiny catheter will be placed into your bladder and another into the lower portion of your rectum. Your bladder will then be filled with fluid. During filling, you may be asked to cough or bear down to see how much, if any, leakage is experienced.  After your bladder is filled, you will be asked to empty your bladder on a machine that tells your doctor how well your bladder was emptied.

The test is done at Regional Urology Shreveport so your urologist will have immediate results.  There is no preparation needed on your part.
