Dr. Wheeler was born and grew up in Owensboro Kentucky. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Louisville Medical School and completed his Anesthesia residency at Louisiana State Medical School in Shreveport. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Pain Management and Advanced Clinical Anesthesia at the University of Pittsburgh. He is board-certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Wheeler has practiced anesthesia in Shreveport for over 30 years. In addition to working at Regional Urology, he is also on staff with LSU/Oschner Health.

Dr. Wheeler has been married for over 30 years and has three adult sons of whom he is very proud. He enjoys spending time with his family and can frequently be found working in his shop.
